Ghost Wave Get Their Own Beer

Tuesday, 17 January 2012 10:45
GHOST WAVE gets own beer.

Beck's has teamed GHOST WAVE and other local musicians up with a number of local artists to have a series of limited edition labels designed.

Read the full press report below.

"Creative collaborations between musicians and artists have resulted in some of the most memorable pop culture images of the last 50 years. Think iconic images such as Sex Pistols God Save The Queen, or The Velvet Underground and Andy Warhol's famous collaboration (you know, the banana one).

Next week, Beck's is launching an initiative where local artists will join with local musicians to design a series of limited edition labels for Beck's bottles. Scratching off any of the labels won?t be an option with artists Rainbow Monkey, Andrew McLeod and Gavin Hurley collaborating with musicians Cut Off Your Hands, Ghost Wave and Parallel Dance Ensemble to each design a series of labels inspired by a song from each band.

Beck's has also run a competition in design/media tertiary establishments around New Zealand to find a talented, up-and-coming artist whose work will be featured as part of the campaign on one of the labels. The winner will be announced on January 26th 2012.

"For artists out there to have the opportunity to work alongside, and be inspired by some of New Zealand's next generation musicians, and have their design placed directly in the hands of tens of thousands of Kiwis is a tremendous opportunity we?re very excited to be a part of," says Beck's Brand Manager, Kylie McEntee.

"Working with these artists and musicians has been an absolute privilege and we?re looking forward to sharing with everyone the fantastic talent New Zealand has to offer both visually and musically."

Not only will over 1.6 million Beck's bottles be sporting a completely original work of art, but those who purchase a promotional 12 pack can also receive 4 free music downloads of their choice powered by Bandit.fm. It's the Beck's Music Shout! And with millions of tracks to choose from, music and art lovers are bound to find tunes to tickle their taste buds as much as the refreshing golden lager inside the bottles.

The limited edition bottles will be available in store and in bars for 3 months starting 1st February 2012.

Beck's bottles featuring works of art, delicious thirst quenching beer housed within, and free music to download. Is there much else needed for the perfect summer?"

GHOST WAVE are playing the Big Night in with Unknown Mortal Orchestra and She's So Rad - see below for the press release.

The Big Day Out presents a Big Night In with Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Ghost Wave and She’s So Rad at the King’s Arms on Thursday 19 January.

Three of the outstanding indie acts of 2011 gather forces at Auckland’s home of live alternative music for one big night of party starting action for the 2012 Big Day Out.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra capped off an eventful 2011 by cropping up all over Pitchfork’s ‘best of the year’ lists and recruiting a new drummer for their shows downunder.

And with Kody Neilson being the one to answer brother Ruban’s call to join up, it’s been a revelation to see the two Mint Chicks main men locked together in playing the furious psychedelic pop jams that made UMO one of the bands of 2011 anywhere.

They’re joined on the bill by the two new bands grabbing ears on the Auckland scene last year – Ghost Wave and She’s So Rad. Both groups released debut EPs that haunted the top of the alternative charts for months and promise many big things for 2012.

Warm up for the Big Day Out alongside UMO, Ghost Wave and She’s So Rad at the Kings Arms, Thursday 19 January.

Tickets on sale now from http://www.undertheradar.co.nz/ and Real Groovy
